We Offer Localised Scientific Screening In Literacy, Numeracy and Collateral Information

- Using sound psychometrics including dynamic norming, we have created fit-for-purpose assessment tools designed specifically for the South African markets. Our dynamic team is also able to create bespoke versions on request.
- The Profiler system will assist to not simply look at the expected outcomes, such as overall scores in literacy or numeracy proficiency. The Profiler screener system is education level specific. The assessments will capture the underlying issues (academic skill and social demographic collateral) that inform academic performance. The information helps education officials understand literacy and numeracy score levels. The reports and analytics produced by our system inform programmatic intervention for the individual or group. The information or data helps to maximize teaching resources to ensure every incumbent has the opportunity to display their true potential.
We Can Help You
Learner Profiler does precisely what it says – create Learner Profiles. It does not matter if you are in a school, a college, recruiting artisans or a concerned parent; there is a Profiler specific for your needs. And just in case you have special needs, we also offer bespoke products developed in collaboration with clients.
Our Competence
The genesis of the Learner Profiler can be traced to Dr Ian Smythe, the company founder of IBIS, an international development agency. Dr Smythe has researched cognitive difficulties which lead to failure in reading and writing among English, Portuguese, Hungarian, Welsh and Chinese students.
For example, Dr Smythe’s proof of concept work in the year 2000 on remote diagnosis using computers (including video monitoring, six years before Skype existed) led to a series of versions and additional research to ensure the current Profiler system meet local needs.
Over the last ten years, he has partnered with Gerald Williamson, a South African Clinical Psychologist and Carmen Joshua, an educator and the co-director of “Shaping the Learner”, an education support agency. For the past 25 years, they have worked in Basic and Higher Education. Mr Williamson and Ms Joshua’s solution-seeking work has been pivotal in driving change paradigms in South African educational environments. The Profiler system is undeniably a service underscored by passion and experience. Driven by an international team of equally passionate behind-the-scenes, competent individuals, the Profiler suite of tools is increasingly finding an invaluable place within educational institutions. If the system is applied correctly, the Profiler becomes a valuable part of a strategy that can change lives forever.
We want to think we made a few mistakes along the way. But that is part of the learning process. Learner Profiler helps people to learn from their mistakes so that the learning process becomes a success!
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
